

Why Maydm:
I have always felt STEM learning is crucial to student development, and this holds true now more than ever. As a part of Maydm, I can make a lasting impact on my community by providing equal opportunities for all students to be exposed to STEM.
Background:
After his years teaching physics and coaching robotics in the Washington DC Public School system, Matt continues his dedication to education, teaching at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Engineering Summer Program and Summer Music Clinic, working as a Teaching Assistant in UW’s Music Department, and tutoring physics and test prep in the Madison area. Matt holds a BA in Physics and Music from the University of Rochester, an MA in Secondary Science Education from American University, an MA in Music Theory from CUNY Queens College, and is currently a PhD candidate at UW–Madison in Music Theory. Matt’s position at Pioneer Possibilities is sponsored by the Mellon Public Humanities Graduate Fellowship through UW–Madison’s Center for the Humanities.
